In the premises of the Public Procurement Administration, on 25 January 2013, a meeting was held between the representative of the World Bank, Mr Antony Bennett, International Consultant for Public Finances and Mr Mersad Mujević, Director of the Public Procurement Administration.
The topic of the conversation was regarding assessment of public expenditure and financial accountability (PEFA) in Montenegro, from the aspect of public procurement. Director Mujević took that opportunity to remind his guest of the fact that the Public Procurement Administration continually, through its annual report informs the public also about the application of open competition upon award of contracts. It was noted that the Workshop which had preceeded this meeting would be an additional motive for the Administration to present these data to the public using the new methodology.
The meeting was also dealing with an analysis of the activities the Administration has undertaken so far, especially regarding the measures, documents regulating the matter concerning strengthening of competition, that is, the value gained for the money invested as well as the part concerning the control over public procurement.
On this occasion the mutual pleasure was expressed at the fact that the new Montenegrin Public Prcourement Law created all legal prerequisites ensuring full observance of the public procurement principles in the best possible manner.
At the end of the meeting, the World Bank representative expressed the great appreciation on behalf of his organization regarding the further cooperation which is to be realized between the Public Procurement Administration and the World Bank, especially through the PEFA programme, which has the aim of professional development and training of all public procurement stakeholders.
