Plenary Conference related to the project: ’National Convention on the European Integration of Montenegro (NCEI 2013-2104) was held in organization of the European Movement in Montenegro and the Slovak Foreign Policy Association in Podgorica/Parliament of Montenegro.
The outcomes of the first year of the Project titled `National Convention on the European Integration MNE 2013-2014` were presented at this Conference. In the Introduction part of the Conference the speeches were given by the President of the Montenegrin Parliament, Ranko Krivokapić, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro, Dr. Igor Lukšić, Chairmain of the Presidency NCEI 2013-2014, H.E. Mr. František Lipka, the ambassador Mr. Tomas Strazay from the Research Center of Slovak Foreign Policy Association and Mr. Alberto Cammarata, from the EU delegation in Podgorica.
President of the European Movement in Montenegro, Momčilo Radulović welcomed the event.
National Convention on the European Integration MNE 2013-2014 represents a successful upgrade of the platform focused on the cooperation between the civil and the public sector established even in 2011 and since then it has been expanded and improved. The Project is implemented by the European Movement in Montenegro and Research Center of the Slovak Foreign Policy Association with financial support of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, the Slovak Aid, as well as the participation of both Government and the Parliament of Montenegro.
The purpose of the Project is to provide a debate on the issues relevant from the aspect of the Montenegro process of accession to the EU and by gathering of a large number of experts in various priority areas of the European integration.
Specific project objectives are as follows:
• Improve cooperation between the public and the civil sector through strengthening of the established debate framework on the topics relating the European Integration of Montenegro.
• Prepare whole Montenegrin society for the process of the European Integration, particularly regarding the characteristics of the negotiation process on the EU membership.
• Encourage additional and rapid social, political and economic reform in the European integration process through strengthening the role of civil society in the creation and implementation of the reform and institutional policies.
• Increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the public institution activities within the process of the European Integration of Montenegro.
Continuity of the cooperation between public institutions and the civil society within the areas of relevance for Montenegrin society in the European Integration process has been kept by implementation of this project on an even increased level of high quality.
Work on NCEI 2013-2014 has been added to the previous results of this type of cooperation between the civil and public sector, where the number of areas covered by the project expanded, not only through a number of working groups, but also with the number of participating experts.
