Podgorica, 23 February, 2015 – In the premises of the Public Procurement Administration a meeting between representatives of the PPA of MNE and representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro was organized

Representatives of the Public Procurement Administration – the Director, PhD Mersad Mujević and Ms Sandra Škatarić, Head of the Department for professional development, training and international cooperation in public procurement field welcomed the official representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro, the Executive Director Ms Ivana Jovović and the Policies Manager Ms Milica Dragojević.
Mr. Mujević introduced the representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce to the public procurement system in Montenegro. Representatives of both institutions noted the importance of communication and information exchange, in purpose of promotion of Montenegro through different areas and attracting foreign investments.
In addition, one of the topics discussed was a possibility of cooperation in the field of attracting American investors and the possibilities that the Public Procurement Law provides in that repect. This refers to the fact that Montenegro has become the newest member of the WTO Government Procurement Agreement after its acession offer of 29 October, 2014, was accepted. That step will help our country in gaining access to the public procurement market whose current value has been estimated to up to 1.7 trillion dollars a year.
Mr. Mujević stressed that the public procurement system has been under constant supervision of the most notable international institutions such as the European Commission, the World Bank, SIGMA, OSCE, UNDP and stated that the results of assessments and reports of the said organizations reflected a permanent improvement in all segments of the system.
Public Procurement Administration and American Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro agreed tointensify their future cooperation. Also, it was noted that it was necessary to find a modality for involvement of the University in purpose of education of young people when it comes to public procurement field, initiation of training and joint participation in future project activities.
On this ocassion, the the foundations for strengthening the future cooperation between the Public Procurement Administration and American Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro were laid.
